What to include in a remodeling estimate
Our remodeling estimate template covers the basics every estimate needs (your details, the customer, job site, line items, totals, validity date and signature) plus the details customers in remodeling look for:
- Allowances for finishes the customer still has to pick, with the amount
- How hidden damage found during demolition is handled
- Phases and a rough schedule

Sample remodeling estimate
Job: Hall bathroom remodel. Gut and remodel the hall bathroom: remove existing finishes, replace shower valve and drain, waterproof and tile the shower and floor, install new vanity, toilet and fixtures, patch and paint.

Remodeling estimating tips
Use allowances for tile, fixtures and lighting so you can price the job before the customer has chosen everything. State that the final price adjusts up or down to their actual selections.
Spell out how hidden conditions are priced. A short clause saying rot, mold or code issues found after demolition will be quoted as a change order saves arguments later.
